Martha Wells ha scritto numerosi romanzi fantasy, tra i quali spiccano quelli della serie Books of the Raksura (a cominciare da The Cloud Roads), la serie Ile-Rien (compreso il romanzo The Death of the Necromancer, candidato al premio Nebula) e vari racconti “young-adult”, romanzi brevi e biografie. Le sue opere fantasy più recenti sono The Edge of the Worlds del 2016 e The Harbors of the Sun che uscirà nel luglio del 2017 per concludere la serie Books of the Raksura. Wells scriverà anche due racconti fantascientifici per la serie The Murderbot Diaries che Tor.com pubblicherà nel 2017. I suoi libri sono stati tradotti in otto lingue. Martha Wells ha pubblicato dei racconti brevi per le riviste Black Gate, Realms of Fantasy, Lone Star Stories, Lightspeed Magazine e Stargate Magazine, nonché per l’antologia Tsunami Relief, The Other Half of the Sky, Tales of the Emerald Serpent, Mech: Age of Steel e The Gods of Lovecraft. Ha anche firmato le antologie Farscape Forever, Mapping the World of Harry Potter, Chicks Unravel Time e The Kobold Guide to Magic. È l’autrice di alcuni tie-in come Stargate Atlantis: Reliquary, Stargate Atlantis: Entanglement e Star Wars: Sul filo del rasoio.
